While I understand that they love my son and want what they believe is best for him, like you said, I do not have a relationship with God and I strongly believe that religion should not be forced on people including loved ones.

It is not just a simple act of dressing up and sprinkling water on his head. It is forcing him into a religion that neither my husband or I practice. I am not leaving him without religious training and he can freely go to church with my in-laws if he has an interest. I personally have gone to church myself out of self interest and am open to bringing him when he’s older.

There are some convictions that are worth dying for and I don’t mind dying for this one.
