Congrats on the new addition to your family!

This is such an amazing response and comment. I never thought about how staying at home could turn into a power shift in the family, not necessarily between you and your partner but in the eyes of the kids. Although I don’t know if I completely agree with it, it’s a valid point. I grew up with 2 working parents and because of it, it’s been driven deep in my mind that both my parents are equal contributors to the household growing up. It’s also been a big influence on my decision on not staying at home.

On a more personal level, I need to know I have financial independence from my husband. Like you, we can manage with just my husband’s income but I need to know that I have financial security without him.
